Dr Bhavani Shankar Kodali, MBBS, MD, FASA, is a distinguished leader in obstetric anesthesiology, currently serving as Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. With an extensive career spanning over 45 years, his areas of expertise include pregnancy airway management, coagulation, COVID-19 in pregnancy, respiratory physiology, and capnography. He previously held key leadership roles as Vice Chair and Interim Chairman at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Dr. Kodali is widely recognized for his academic contributions, having delivered more than 527 national and international lectures across 15 countries, including several prestigious orations. He has an impressive body of work with over 250 publications, including original articles, books, and book chapters, and is also the author of educational websites. A dedicated educator, he has trained residents and fellows for over four decades and received multiple teaching excellence awards, including the 2023 Teacher of the Year by SOAP. He also serves as an ACLS and simulation instructor and reviewer for numerous journals.
