WFSA P-PBM FACILITATOR COURSE
WFSA Perioperative Patient Blood Management (P-PBM) Facilitator course.
Dates: 18th and 19th July 2026, Le Méridien, Coimbatore
The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists developed the P-PBM courses to strengthen knowledge, skills, and leadership in Patient Blood Management (PBM). These courses support local champions and multidisciplinary teams in implementing evidence-based perioperative strategies.
The P-PBM Facilitator Course (FC)
- Duration: 2 days (08:00 AM to 04:30 PM)
- Purpose: Train local champions and future facilitators with in-depth knowledge of perioperative PBM.
Delegates complete all Participant Course online content plus additional advanced sessions.
Agenda Highlights:
Day 1: Introduction, Modules 1–4 (concepts, physiology, anaemia management, minimising blood loss).
Day 2: Continuation of Module 4, Modules 5–8, optional Module 9 (challenging scenarios), post-course assessment, certificates and closing session.
Course uses interactive learning methods including short lectures, group discussions, clinical cases, games, and scenario-based learning. Faculty act as facilitators and role models, ensuring active participation and alignment with adult learning principles
Learning objectives:
The aim of the P-PBM course is to provide training in the essentials of perioperative optimisation of a patient's own blood.
The course includes:
- Identification and management of perioperative anaemia.
- Effective strategies to reduce surgical bleeding and haemostasis management.
- Key standards in perioperative transfusion medicine.
